Consider yourself...
Consider yourself at home. Consider yourself one of the family. We've taken to you so strong, It's clear we're going to get along. Consider yourself well in. Consider yourself part of the furniture....
For you owners, how do you view your possession... Plaything? Serf? Livestock...?
What rules have you established to remind it, and others, that it's mere chattel?
What protocols have you adopted, or ad imposed, to demonstrate to your Owner, and anyone else, that you are mere property? |

I think the best reminder that I'm a pet and no longer a person is that I'm not allowed on the human furniture anymore unless my Owners specifically tell me I should do so. Also, I find myself moving around the house on all fours most of the time, even during the day when they're not home. I hardly realize I'm doing it anymore, except when I do get up on my feet for some reason. Now walking on two legs is starting to feel increasingly unnatural! I find that very exciting.

First, welcome to my group.
Second, thanks for all your thoughtful posts already.
Like you, i also stay off the furniture unless m`Lady specifically instructs me to use it. That's mostly at dinner time, if we eat in the kitchen. If we eat in the living room, then i sit in my usual place, at Her feet.
