I was surprised you had no venomous snakes up "north"... you didn't have any copperheads where you lived... if you really want to get freaked the fuck out then read about the brown recluse spider.. we get them here in missouri. They aren't "big" but they can do alot of damage.

Living in Australia, land to over 140 varieties of snakes, 100 of which are venomous, this is just something we live with. I live in a major capital city, within 8 kms of the city precincts, I have a snake which lives under my house. I am not game enough to go down and find out which breed he is. *shudder* My Mother once had an Eastern Brown snake (I believe in the top 10 of the world's deadliest snakes) crawl over her foot during a family evening barbeque. Actually when she lived in a northern city she had a copperhead crawl over her foot....hmmm...figuring she is a snake magnet. Wherever I go there always seems to be a snake somewhere. I attended a dungeon party on an acreage property and told the Dom Host those exact words, which he poopahed. As he drove me home, just passing through his gateway, there in front of us slithered a snake on its way to his house. I never participated in the outdoor night plays after that. We have a plethora of snakes at the moment, there were flooding rains several weeks back in the wrathful lash of a cyclone which became a rain depression. There have been a rush of snake warnings and sightings as the serpents are washed into more open areas. Fortunately I live away from the flood zones, so thankfully just have the usual slithery floatillas to worry about. Not even mentioning the spiders with deadly impact, the ants which deliver a painful bite and ill effects.....the new deadly jellyfish which has been found in the local waterways, so far south of where we are used to them inhabiting. Ah, Australia....you know you are alive...and alert, when living here. I hope you never have the horror of encountering a snake wherever you reside. Will send the rain spirits to bring relief from the drought and fires affecting you all in the south. Good luck remaining snake free. For the Sun so loved the Moon that every night He died, just so she might breathe.

Ah. Ignoring the snakes in the news, like politicians, extreme blundering of multinational cooperations, and the snake eyes of paradise or is that a pair of dices. Tis the way of the world anymore. Then again, without snakes, we would be complaining about rodents everywhere. Choose your poison folks.
