losing weight Like alot of member here i decided to go on a diet and lose a few pounds. so I thought I would share a few tips... First off all you need to look up the GI ( glycemic index) on line... it is the chart that diabetics use to determine how long a certain type of food like bread will remain as a sugar in one's system.. The longer it lingers the more likely it will be stored as fat instead of being used by the body. It really is the basis of the atkins diet ( which really is a rip off of any bodybuilding diet)/the southbeach diet etc..... At the low end of the GI scale ( which will be used quickly by the body) are meat and leafy green veggie.. in the middle are your bread...and the end ( which will be stored as fat) are things like potatoes and root veggies like carrots.. There is a good reason why all these fad diets claim .."OMG GUYS on this diet you can actually have brownies!!!!!!!..... If you eat nothing but tons of low scale end stuff ,your sugars will spike and you will have cravings.. you will then over eat junk food So it's good to have something like one of those snack sized candy bars in your desk at work to take the edge off. There is also a reason that the atkins diet is sorta broad based.. it also includes elements of good fat ( like nuts) and carbs to the diet ( once again the diet is stolen from bodybuilders) The body needs certain fats in the diet in order to stay regular. Alot of people have success with atkins due to it's high protein content... but then figure fuck if a lil protein helps lose weight...then I'm gonna eat more!!! and then end up getting constipated... well your body can only process like 30 grams per 4 hours of protein...any extra stays as fat/dries you out...the only reason these big beefy bodybuilders can eat all that protein is because slowly they have trained their bodies to assimilate it. Next is portion control....we all are probably aware that we need a certain amount of calories a day...and that a 1lb of weight equals 3500 calories.. .even if your one of these people that can run for like a hour straight you might burn 1000..just guessing It is just easier to lose weight by controlling your calorie intake...reduce your calories by 500 cals a day and within a week you lost a pound. 4 lbs per month..3 months down the road and your down 12 lbs...without any exercise So it is best to be a grazer....noone is saying you can't have a lil pie or ice cream...I'm saying know how many calories are in that ice cream and take a spoon ful period.. and then walk away...control your food instead of letting it control you.. Just remember NOONE says you have to starve yourself to lose weight...take a small bite of cake or cookie or hell ice cream....but then fill yourself up on something like salad. Hell a full head of lettuce is 56-70 calories period...I'm a full grown man and half a head of salad fills me the fuck up.. just stick to the things low on the GI index as your main filler of your meal. Exercise...sure exercise is great...but unless your willing to run a 10 minute mile for like 5 miles or walk 6 miles.. your gonna find that it really isn't doing a whole lot to help you lose the weight....it might help reduce your daily cal count by say 500. Finally you may think your eating healthy but sabotaging your own diet..research the foods that you eat...find better alternative..for example salad dressings...which contain alot of oils/fats....go on sites like eat this and not that..and they will give you a more healthy alternative.. in my case they suggested one of newman's salad dressing.. and yes the proof is in the pudding.. I took my own advice and am already down like 7lbs |
